Home Safety

In Australia, the home is the most commonly specified location for childhood injury to occur. Young children under the age of five are particularly vulnerable to injury within the home. The home is the place where children grow and learn, achieving developmental milestones by interacting with their physical surroundings. Often mobility in children develops sooner than their cognitive understanding of the hazards around them, putting them at an increased risk of injury. The Home Safety Program provides education and resources to assist parents, carers, and professionals to keep children safe in and around the home.

The Home Safety Service is supported by the WA Department of Health and is focused on promoting safety and preventing childhood injuries in Western Australia.
