Returning in 2004!
HOW SAFE IS YOUR SCHOOL?
17th to 21st May 2004
Why "Safety in Schools Week" and injury prevention is important. .
Each year MORE children die from injury than die from Cancer, Asthma and Infectious Disease combined!
How many children are injured in your school in a week?
"Safety in Schools Week" can help reduce the incident of injury through education. It encourages schools to address safety in a holistic manner, using the Health Promoting Schools Framework, and activities linked to the Curriculum Framework.
Safety in Schools Week 2004 is a joint initiative of Kidsafe WA, Department of Consumer & Employment Protection (WorkSafe) and the Department of Education (WA). The 2004 Main sponsor is the PMH Foundation. Kidsafe WA has coordinated Safety in Schools Week since its inception in 1999.
Safety in Schools Week aims to provide a focus for injury prevention in primary schools and district high schools throughout Western Australia using a collaborative approach.
The collaborative approach to Safety in Schools Week develops partnerships with other organisations, government departments and business. "Safety in Schools Week" offers all Western Australian injury prevention agencies the opportunity to unite and present their injury prevention messages, resources and curriculum based activities to schools during one Safety in Schools Week.
The "Safety in Schools Week 2004" Purple resource folder contains safety and health activities from more than 20 WA health promotion agencies. Look out for your copy, which will be sent to your principal early next year! The resources will also be uploaded below as they become available.
