Kidsafe WA celebrates 40 years of Preventing Childhood Injury

Kidsafe, originally known as the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia was formed in 1979 with the Western Australian branch established in 1980. The Foundation was established during the International Year of the Child with leading paediatric surgeons and health professionals acknowledging that more Australian children die as a result of injury than all other causes.

The purpose of the Foundation was to substantially reduce the suffering, anxiety and cost of child related accidents through a coordinated national effort. Over the past 40 years there has been a significant reduction in child injury deaths and hospitalisations in Australia with rates continuing on a downward trend.

Today, Kidsafe WA is the expert in educating and informing parents and children on staying safe at home, at play and on the road.

As part of the celebration Kidsafe WA are aiming to fundraise $40,000 to put towards our community education programs and childhood injury prevention research. We are asking our supporters to donate $40 to help us celebrate 40 years of Kidsafe WA. With your help Kidsafe WA can ensure Western Australian children become healthy adults. To donate, click here.
