Latest Annual Data Report Available

Kidsafe WA’s latest Annual Data Report is now available, providing an overview of childhood injury presentations to the Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) Emergency Department (ED) between July 2024 and June 2025.

Our long-standing partnership with PCH allows Kidsafe WA to monitor injury trends over time, providing insight into who is getting injured, how, and under what circumstances. This data forms the foundation of our bulletins and reports, helps to inform our programs and resources and to identify and respond to emerging child injury issues.

Key findings from the 2024-2025 Annual Report include:

  • 29% of all PCH ED presentations were injury-related
  • Children under 5 years and males are most affected
  • Falls remain the leading cause of injury-related presentations
  • School and Home are the most reported locations for injury
  • Common areas for injury within the home include bedrooms and outdoors
  • 86% of children were able to leave the ED with treatment complete

To find out more about how we use injury data to support child injury prevention in WA, you can view our recent webinar recording Childhood Injury Insights on the Kidsafe WA YouTube channel. This session outlines how professionals and stakeholders can use our reports to guide child injury prevention initiatives in the community.
