In March, Kidsafe WA raises awareness around common fall-related childhood injuries and how to prevent them.

Over the 2022-2023 reporting period, falls continued to be the leading cause of injury, according to data collected by the Perth Children’s Hospital Emergency Department.

Falls can occur in a number of environments:

  • At home, such as falling down stairs or off nursery equipment — check out ACCC’s Your First Steps for more information on baby product safety.
  • On the road, such as falling off of small wheeled devices.
  • At play, when children don’t know or have the skills to safely use play equipment.
