Kidsafe WA Child Injury Prevention Symposium: Advocating for Safer Products

Kidsafe WA will be hosting a one-day event on the 13th of August 2025, with funding from the Western Australian Department of Health. The Child Injury Prevention Symposium will discuss how best to advocate for policy change in the product safety sector, emerging and ongoing issues, and how we can work collaboratively.

Injuries are the leading cause of death in Australian children aged 0-17, accounting for nearly half of all deaths in the age group. In Australia, there are 49 mandatory standards, many relating to hazards for children. A research report released by Kidsafe WA last year shows that product-related injuries have remained consistent over 5 years (2018 to 2022).

Hear from a range of speakers, including product safety professionals, injury prevention specialists, and researchers. The event is suitable for the Health Promotion (Injury Prevention) Sector, Policymakers, Not-for-profits, Childcare centre directors, Education Management, and Local Governments.

In-person registration, networking, and refreshments to open from 9:30 am for attendees, with formalities to commence at 10:00 am and conclude at 4:00pm. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
