National Reconciliation Week 2025

As National Reconciliation Week draws to an end, the team at Kidsafe WA reflect on their commitments to reconciliation throughout the year. As an organisation working with WA communities to prevent childhood injury, our work is guided by our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan. This plan helps us build stronger relationships with Aboriginal families and organisations and adapt our programs and services to suit the needs of the communities we work with.

In line with this year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, Kidsafe WA are continuing their reconciliation commitments while being guided by past lessons. This week, and all throughout the year, Australians are encouraged to come together to listen to First Nations voices, learn about our shared histories and contribute to reconciliation where we live, work and play. At the start of the week, Kidsafe WA joined over 30,000 others across the state who tuned in to the live stream of the Reconciliation Breakfast in Walyalup. With two staff attending the event in person, this was a great opportunity to learn about the reconciliation work happening across WA and to hear from current and future Aboriginal leaders.

While there have been many great events over the past week, reconciliation is a year-round commitment. To see how you can get involved as an individual or through your organisation, check out some of the resources from Reconciliation WA through their website or social media channels. If you’re part of an Aboriginal organisation or community group across WA and would like to work with Kidsafe WA to deliver our childhood injury prevention programs in partnership, please get in touch with our team by calling (08)6244 4880 or emailing kidsafe@kidsafewa.com.au.

Kidsafe WA are honoured to have lived and worked on Whadjuk Noongar land over the past 40 years. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land here in Boorloo and throughout Western Australia, where our vision, purpose and values extend.
